Paul Conley

Paul brings over 15 years of technology R&D and venture-backed company operating experience.   As a founding partner of Modal Logic, a successful technology management consulting firm based in Washington DC, Paul provided strategic consulting to early stage technology ventures, as well as state and municipal government agencies.   As the founding CEO of BrightScale, a multi-core video microprocessor company based in Sunnyvale, CA, Paul lead the development of the initial business plan for the company, built a seasoned management team and closed on nearly $7M of equity financing and government contracts to commercialize the company’s unique supercomputing technologies.  Prior to founding BrightScale, Paul was founding CEO of Appfluent Technology, an enterprise software company based in Rockville, MD.   At Appfluent, he built and lead a seasoned management team through commercialization of Appfluent’s main-memory RDBMS technologies, executing over $21M in equity financings along the way.   Prior to taking the entrepreneurial path, Paul lead a successful R&D career in the areas of supercomputing and high-energy physics at the University of California and Los Alamos National Laboratory.  He earned a PhD in Applied Physics and an MS in Bioengineering from the University of California (San Diego), as well as an MS and BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Virginia.
