Washington, DC February 12, 2015

Good Harbor Security Risk Management, a premier cybersecurity advisory firm, announced today that it has appointed Rob Knake, former White House cybersecurity director and a leading expert in cybersecurity policy issues, as a senior advisor to the firm.

Mr. Knake served until last week as Director for Cybersecurity Policy at the National Security Council, advising the president and developing executive orders and national policy on cybersecurity, information technology, cloud computing, Internet governance, and cyber risk management.

Working with Good Harbor Chairman Richard Clarke, himself a former White House advisor to three presidents, Mr. Knake will advise the firm’s corporate clients, including Boards, CEOs, investors, and C-suite executives, on cyber risk management, information security practices, and navigating complex cybersecurity policy issues.

“I’m excited to help the leadership of companies of all sectors and sizes understand and manage the complex, fast-changing challenges of cybersecurity,” Mr. Knake said. “Richard Clarke and the Good Harbor team have been laser-focused for years on advising in the C-suite and in the boardroom, where so many critical cybersecurity decisions happen.”

Mr. Knake’s experience as a trusted advisor and liaison to senior members of the federal government and senior corporate executives provides him with a unique perspective and the ability to help clients achieve effective cyber risk management.

Mr. Knake previously held senior positions at the Department of Homeland Security, the Council on Foreign Relations, and Good Harbor. With Richard Clarke, he co-authored the seminal book Cyber War: The Next Threat to National Security and What to Do About It. He is currently an adjunct professor at Georgetown University.

“We are thrilled to have Rob back on our team,” said Mr. Clarke. “Rob’s experience at the forefront of cybersecurity policy at the White House will bring immense benefits to our clients as they seek to navigate the complex challenges that cybersecurity policies and the threat environment present.”
