Mary Aiken PhD, is a Professor of Cyberpsychology and Chair of the Department of Cyberpsychology at Washington D.C.’s premier STEM University, Capitol Technology University. She is a Professor of Forensic Cyberpsychology in the Department of Law and Criminology at the University of East London, a Member of the INTERPOL Global Cybercrime Expert Group, and is a Member of Europol’s Advisory Group on Research & Development (AGRD). She is a Fellow of The Royal Society of Medicine (FRSM), member of Medico-Legal Society, International Affiliate Member of the American Psychological Association (APA), Fellow of the Society for Chartered IT Professionals, and former International Global Fellow at the Washington DC Wilson Center.

Professor Aiken has conducted research and training workshops with multiple global agencies, from INTERPOL to the FBI and the White House. She has numerous research interests including; AI, Fintech, Trust & Safety Tech, human factors in cybersecurity, active cyber defense, organized cybercrime, cyber behavioural profiling and Internet psychology. She has an M.Sc. in Cyberpsychology and a PhD in Forensic Cyberpsychology.

Professor Aiken’s work inspired the CBS Primetime series ‘CSI: Cyber.’ Her bestselling book ‘The Cyber Effect’ was a 2016 Times book of the year and a 2016 ‘best science pick’ by Nature, the International Journal of Science. In 2013, she co-led a White House research project on Technology aspects of Human Trafficking. In 2017, she was inducted into the Infosecurity Europe Hall of Fame in recognition of her contribution to the information and cybersecurity sector. In 2019 and 2021, she was named among the top 50 women in GovTech in the Asia-Pacific region. She has acted as expert advisor to the UK government Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), reports on online safety technologies (SafetyTech). In 2022, she was awarded ‘Freedom of the City of Dublin’ for her work in cyberpsychology, online safety and cybersecurity. In 2025 & 2026, she was ranked #1 in the Top Cybersecurity Speakers official rankings list.

Professor Aiken has advised at National and International levels in policy debates at the intersection of technology and human behaviour and has published and spoken worldwide on these topics. Professor Aikens work has been featured by CBS, CNN, BBC, New York Post, Newsweek, NPR, Inside Edition, Politico, Scientific American, Variety, the Atlantic, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Sunday Times, The Guardian, Hollywood Reporter and Time Magazine.
