Paladin announces office space in the Discovery District Maryland
Washington, D.C. – Paladin Capital Group, the multi-stage investor in AI, cyber and deep technology, is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Capital of Quantum (COQ). Maryland Governor Wes Moore recently debuted the next phase of the initiative with the launch of the Discovery District Maryland. Headquartered at the150-acre Discovery Center, the COQ is embedded alongside startups, established companies, and shared research infrastructure — bringing together industry, research institutions, federal and state agencies, and investors.
As an investor in quantum technologies since 2022, Paladin is dedicated to investing in the next generation of innovation and development. Quantum technologies have the potential to revolutionize industries, making it critical that companies, research institutions, and government entities are all investing in this research as demand for such technologies will only grow in the coming years. The partnership provides Paladin with early access to innovators in the startup community. On campus, Paladin will engage with University of Maryland’s quantum research, share insights from the group’s global network and business interactions, evaluate potential startups ideated at COQ, and offer entrepreneurship guidance to other founders in the Ecosystem. Paladin will occupy office space in the Discovery Center to facilitate ongoing coordination between Paladin and the community connected to COQ.
“As we look forward to the future of emerging technology like quantum systems, we are pleased to join the Capital of Quantum initiative and the Discovery District Maryland community,” said Chris Steed, Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of Paladin Capital Group. “It is critical for companies at this stage to have industry guidance, access to customers, and, most importantly, the capital to take their business to the next stage. Paladin is looking forward to providing all these things through this new venture and help jumpstart the next generation of entrepreneurs.”
“As we announce the next phase of this Capital of Quantum initiative, we are pleased to welcome Paladin Capital Group to Discovery District Maryland,” said Dr. Corey Stanbaugh, Director of Capital of Quantum. “We are launching the Discovery Center to create an environment where researchers, developing companies, and entrepreneurs can share a communal space with top tier investors, like Paladin, who have the experience and industry knowledge to help turn ideas into reality and offer guidance and capital to help these companies thrive.”
First announced by Governor Moore in January 2025, COQ is a landmark statewide public-private partnership with a target of $1 billion in investments and will work to cement the region as a global leader in quantum information science and technology. Through the initiative, Paladin will coordinate, promote, connect, and invest in the region’s Quantum Ecosystem. Additionally, Paladin will continue to support the next generation of tech leadership by engaging graduate students to work with the group at the COQ. Christopher Steed, Paladin’s Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director, will also join COQ’s Advisory Board.
