Many of us are guilty of inspiring our children to pursue the quixotic quest of athletic immortality rather than exalting the virtues of math and science in our everyday lives. Even my mathematically inclined son told me that he would like to be an NBA player but only if he doesn’t make it into the NFL. Well at least he’s learned the importance of having a back-up plan.
