3 March 2021 – Washington D.C. and London – Paladin Capital Group Managing Director and Professor of Practice in Public Management at the University of Oxford’s Blavatnik School of Government, Ciaran Martin CB has been awarded the Gold Foreign Partnership Medallion from the National Security Agency (NSA), on behalf of the United States Government.

The award was presented in recognition of Ciaran’s exceptional contribution to US and UK partnership on cyber security. Ciaran was the founding Chief Executive of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC), a part of GCHQ, on which he served at Executive Board level for six and a half years until August 2020.

Ciaran Martin commented, “It was a real honour to receive such an award from our strong ally in the fight against cyber threats, the US Government. The partnership of the National Cyber Security Centre and the rest of GCHQ with a whole range of the US authorities is a great test case in how international cooperation can lead to stronger cyber defences. In particular, decades of partnership with the NSA have delivered huge security benefits to both countries.”

Michael Steed, Founder and Managing Partner, stated: “Key to the success of the NCSC has been its collaborative approach to international security partnerships established under Ciaran’s leadership. With this award, the United States government has recognised the major contribution to our safety Ciaran has made with his clear vision for the NCSC. We are proud to have him on the Paladin team, advising startups hoping to internationalise their product and service offerings to both government and corporations.”

The award was presented on behalf the United States Government by Rob Joyce, incoming Head of the Cybersecurity Directorate at the NSA, in London at the US Embassy.
