Dick Clarke is an internationally recognized expert in cyber security, national security, and crisis management.

He has been a Presidential advisor to three US presidents, a diplomat (Assistant Secretary of State), an intelligence official (Dep Asst Sec of State – Intelligence), an author (10 books including a #1 NYT best seller) an educator (5 year faculty at Harvard Kennedy School), a television news commentator (15 years with ABC News), a think tank leader (10 years Chair of the Middle East Institute), a cyber security risk management consultant (14 years as CEO of Good Harbor), a board member of public and private companies (including Veracode, Claritev), and a crisis manager (9-11).

Clarke is unique among national security managers in that he served a continuous ten years in the White House for three consecutive presidents (Bush, Clinton, Bush). Clarke served in the White House as Special Assistant to the President for Global Affairs, National Coordinator for Security and Counter-terrorism, and as the first “Cyber Czar.” Subsequently he assisted in President Obama’s first campaign, served on his Transition Team and on his Intelligence Technology Review Group following the Snowden affair.

Books and Awards: Clarke’s books, five fiction and five non-fiction, have been published in twenty languages. His book WARNINGS focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Sea Level Rise, Genetic Engineering, and the Internet of Things. His two volumes on cyber security (CYBER WAR; FIFTH DOMAIN) won him a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Cyber Canon. For his pioneering work in cyber security, Clarke was also given membership in the Cyber Security Hall of Fame, presented with the Cyber Security Lifetime Achievement Award by the RSA Conference, and the Champions of Freedom Award by the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC).

Clarke has appeared on news and talk shows on every major US network except Fox, including the Today Show, Good Morning America, Morning Joe, CNN New Day, ABC’s World News, Nightline and This Week, NBC’s Meet the Press, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and The Last Word, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Cuomo Primetime and The Situation Room, CBS’s Sixty Minutes, Charlie Rose, The View and PBS’s Frontline and The News Hour. He also appeared often on Real Time with Bill Maher, The Colbert Report, and The Daily Show. He hosted the Future State podcast for two seasons.

He is a graduate of the Boston Public Schools (including the Boston Latin School), the University of Pennsylvania, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
